Epsom outplays Blues in soccer showdown

EPSOM scored its second victory in this season's Bendigo Amateur Soccer League's women's championship in Sunday's catch-up round.

The Scorpions struck three goals on their way to a 3-1 victory against the Strathdale Blues on the synthetic pitch at Epsom-Huntly Reserve.

Melissa Vanzetta, Jo Hill and Jacinta Dikkenberg beat Strathdale's defence.

Darcey Whitehurch was on target for the Blues.

Epsom's best were Paige Pinson, Melissa Vanzetta and Bianca Trimboli.

Best for Strathdale were Grace Coard, Katrina Salathiel and Hannah Lancaster.

The unbeaten Colts United scored a 5-1 win against Eaglehawk at Strathfieldsaye.

Liz Watkins scored three goals in a superb game for United. Bethany McDonald and Michelle Robinson also scored goals.

Colts led 3-0 at half-time, but an own goal lifted Hawks hopes.

Best for Colts were Alishia Stratford, Holly Hays and Kellie Moller.

Eaglehawk's best were A. Archbold, R. Ross and E. Webb.

The second-placed Spring Gully was kept scoreless in the first half by Golden City.

Gully went on to win 2-0 after goals by Jade De Marchi and Paige Conder.

Spring Gully's best were Jemimah Bish, Jessica Smith and Danielle Weeks.

Tayla Hogan, Rachel Morgan and Brianna Smith played well for City.

The favourites triumphed in the men's championship matches.

Jon Bryers struck three goals as Strathdale scored a 5-0 win on Epsom's turf.

Shaun Allen and Sean Boxshall beat Epsom's defence as the Blues achieved their fourth consecutive victory.

Strathdale's best were Jon Bryers, Ben Drechsler and Shaun Allen.

Best for Epsom were Jack Collins, Brenton Ellis and Adrian Holland.

Colts United dominated play against Eaglehawk at Strathfieldsaye.

United won 4-1 in a match where Malcolm Durno, Ben Langan, Joel Gitsham and Dylan Callaway were on target.

The Hawks' sole goal was struck by Daniel Kelly.

Best for Colts United were Durno, Callaway and Gitsham.

Eaglehawk's best were Kelly, Shane Eleveld and W. Kerrins.

The Spring Gully attack was in hot form against Golden City.

The Reds won 6-1 in a contest where Matt Ford, two; Sam Walker, Joel Bish and Dennis Barnett finished off Gully's midfield dominance.

City's goal was scored by Say Kapaw.

Best for Spring Gully were Barnett, Matt Tuddenham and Jakob Van Dalen.

City's best were Josh Claney, Say Kapaw and Hugh Molenaar.

There were no matches in division two or the youth championships.
