Our Lady of Lourdes has shown their depth and has taken out the girl’s primary Brisbane Lions Cup once again after another dominate carnival.
OLOL proved they have the depth to cover their gun player Mykaila McIntosh in her absence. McIntosh was the girls MVP in 2013 and was again in impressive form dominating the opening game and showing great composure in OLOL's second clash.
But unfortunately landed awkwardly on her ankle and was taken to hospital for pre-cautionary scans but later cleared of serious injury.
OLOL started the day with a hard-fought victory as did Concordia, while OLOL and Our Lady of the Southern Cross College couldn't split the points with a 2-all draw. OLOSCC Dalby couldn't get away from the tight physical contests recording another draw but this time against Concordia.
This time the score was an all-time low 1-all.
In the final two games of the day Our Lady of Lourdes stamped their authority and wrapped up their second straight Brisbane Lions Cup title, with dominate displays in their final matches against Concordia and OLOSCC.
Our Lady of the Southern Cross recorded two draws, left them finishing in third position with Concordia hanging onto second place and Our Lady of Lourdes going through with 3 wins and 1 draw, declared the 2014 winners.
Rising star and term 1 Dalby Swans Cup MVP, Shiro Frid (10 votes) added to her impressive collection of individual accolades, taking out the girls division Most Valuable Player award ahead of runners-up Georgia Bollon and Andy Hooper by 1-vote.
Our Lady of Lourdes will now represent the Darling Downs at the AFLQ SEQ Brisbane Lions Cup finals in Brisbane in June.
