Campbelltown overcome Reserves blues
You would do well to find a more rousing rendition of the club song than Monarch Oval on Saturday. Campbelltown’s reserve grade side notched up their first win in nearly two years against Moorebank in Division Four. They had lost 23 consecutive games with their last win coming on 21st July 2012. Well done guys and hopefully a couple more before season’s end.
Rocking the bus
A worrying trend has emerged at Macquarie University on their bus trips away. Onesies have become a recent custom for the Warriors boys if this photo is anything to go by on their page; https://www.facebook.com/muafc
While their seniors are rollicking along, the club recently announced the transfer of club legend and former captain, Carter Mullins to Pennant Hills. Apparently Nathan Jackson is still coming to terms with the loss, while Carter celebrated with a best on ground showing in the Demon’s 5 point win over Sydney University in Division Three.
Women kicking along
Female football has received plenty of publicity lately with the recent Women’s Draft. While unfortunately no Sydney-based ladies were selected (Courtney Gum was retained after featuring for Melbourne last year), the cream of the crop have more pressing things on their mind. We came across the inaugural AFL Sydney women's team commence training for the 2 game series against AFLCanberra (pic.twitter.com/MxVEF2iwyk). Good luck ladies!
Eagles getting behind Arndt
The Arndt family have a close link with the Sydney Hills Eagles. It was great to see the Eagles get behind a great cause at Bruce Purser Reserve last week selling raffle tickets to assist Chloe Arndt, who was selected to represent NSW/ACT in the Under 18 AFL National Carnival. Bravo!
Motor brings the goods
This also took the eye of Danny on his weekly Twitter trawl. Hopefully Senior Representative coach, Roger Moten can conquer similar magic in the upcoming representative match against AFL Canberra- if his Twitter page is anything to go by;

Bats perform for the cameras
UTS have apparently been in touch with Digital Sports frontman, Craig Abercrombie for the TV camera to appear at their upcoming matches. Their first win of the season in Premier Division coincided with the first live stream of a Bats game this season.
Word has also circulated about Fortress Waverley- as they are undefeated at the ground for 2014 (they drew with Sydney University in their other first grade match).
Other news from the Bats includes;
- Michael May copping it for his appearance in the Team of the Week after copping a belting. Apparently Michael is the only Bat to check it on a weekly basis and was quick to point it out to his teammates.
- Popular clubman, Nick Barrett brought up 100 games last weekend.
Super Saturday for Magpies
Saturday saw Western Suburbs host their annual 'Super Saturday' at Henson Park where they combine with their junior club for a football feast.
This year the Magpies proudly supported the charity "beyond blue" which helps those suffering from depression.
It was definitely a smorgasbord with the first football action at 8am with the feature game of the day, the Premier Division clash against UNSW/ES starting at 7pm. It was also great to see the women’s match as the curtain raiser. The Magpies saluted in style with a tough win over UNSW/ES in the main game.
