The AFL Sydney Women's Round 2 Rising Star is Jasmine Smith from UNSW/ES Stingrays.
Jasmine Smith played her first game of AFL for the UNSW/ES Stingrays on Sunday in the torrential rain at the Village Green against the Moorebank Magpies.
A basketballer by background, Jasmine took the field at Centre Half Forward and dominated from the outset. Her ability to get her hands clear when tackled and get her foot to the ball quickly in the wet really helped the team cement the ball in the forward 50 throughout the first half. Jasmine was also thrown into the ruck on occasions and used her body strongly to deliver the ball to her team mates.
A natural athlete, she revelled in the wet conditions – sliding, tackling and diving around the field and took out the team’s Best on Ground post game.
