Footy resumed in the Mallee Football League again after all teams had a week off with the Easter break. The first match of the round saw Ouyen United travel down to Rainbow to play Jeparit-Rainbow. Unlike the match before where the Jeparit-Rainbow side dominated all of the first quarter play, the Lakers were not able to get off to the start they wanted. Ouyen United were quick out of the blocks with a 5 goal first term and were miserly in defence as they held the Lakers to 1 goal. The second quarter saw the game open up and Jeparit-Rainbow were able to work their way back into the contest, and reduce the deficit at half time back down to 17 points. The Demons showed the benefits of a long preseason campaign in the third quarter, as they moved the ball quickly and cleanly with the wind, and piled on 7 goals to 1. Jeparit-Rainbow battled hard in the final quarter and were able to reduce the margin, but at the final siren, a solid 41 point victory went the way Ouyen. Marcus Healy was again amongst the goals for the Demons, kicking 5, while Bradley Vallance and Laurence Angwin both contributed 3 goals each. Andrew Jardine was best on ground for Ouyen United, and Henry Armour and Bradley Summerhayes were also in the best. For Jeparit-Rainbow, Brodie Grant played well up forward on a tough day, kicking 3 goals. Elliot Bath was slotted 2 goals and was best on ground for the Lakers, along with Luke Werner and Tyler Edelsten.
The other match to go ahead this week had Woomelang-Lascelles hosting neighbours Hopetoun, who were coming off two successive bye rounds. Hopetoun didn't muck around with the footy in the first quarter, as they played a quick and direct brand of football that saw them get the jump on their opposition and take an 18 point lead after the first siren. Woomelang-Lascelles showed that they are a class side however, and fought back as they kicked with the wind and put on 8 goals 8 to take a 26 point lead into half-time. The third term was all Hopetoun’s as they willed themselves back into the contest, and were only trailing by 8 as the game entered the 4th quarter. Woomelang-Lascelles took control of the match and ran out the game well as 37 point victors. Jayden Lonergan was again a good target for the cats up forward kicking 5 goals, while Jeremy Phelan kicked 4 and Corey Kelly 3. Joshua Ratcliffe was best on for the Cats, along with Nyaburu Kelly and Anthony Foott. For Hopetoun, Lucas Cook moved forward and kicked 5 goals, and Simon Cook, Coleman Schache, and Ben Webster kicked 2 each. Coleman Schache was a handy addition to the Hopetoun side and was there best on along with Liam Price and Jackson Fisher.
