AFL Darling Downs have today announced the inaugural Women's Representative coach for the upcoming clash with AFL Wide Bay on May 10th in Kingaroy.
Jeff Neumann has officially been appointed as the head coach of the inaugural side.
Neumann brings in a wealth of experience and knowledge after years of service with the Queensland Under 18 side and Australian High Performance Academy. Regionally his coaching record includes the regions first ever representative championship back in 2009 along with the undefeated premiership year with the Under 18 DD Crows in 2012.
The talented coach is also a very experienced player including Brisbane Lions reserve representation as a teenager, AFLDD premiership, along with numerous individual accolades.
Neumann was delighted with his appointment and excited with the one-off representative game against Wide Bay.
"Fantastic to be appointed as coach of the side, we have quite a few very talented female footballers in the region and it is great to give them this opportunity," Neumann said on his appointment.
"I am excited by the opportunity our women's players are been given to showcase female footy in the developing region of South Burnett.
"Not only will it be great for the South Burnett region but a fantastic opportunity to show the female footy is on the up and that Australian Rules isn't just a boys sport," Neumann added.
AFL Darling Downs will announce a squad of 40 in the coming days with the final squad to be cut down to 23 to take on AFL Wide Bay on Saturday 10th May at Lyle Vidler Oval in Kingaroy.
