Darling Downs star female duo Isabelle Baldock and Georgie Seaniger have received their playing State representative jersey at the recent AFL Queensland player presentation dinner on the Gold Coast.
Baldock will wear the number five jersey, while Seaniger will don number twelve.
Both players have come from quite different backgrounds with Baldock a club player and Seaniger identified through AFLQ school programs. Baldock started her footy career with the Under 11 Goondiwindi Hawks but with her family moving to Toowoomba, she nows play with the South Toowoomba Bombers women's side in the AFL Darling Downs competition.
For Seaniger, in only her second year of Australian Rules she was identified playing in the AFLQ Youth Girls Brisbane Lions cup for school side St Joseph's College.
This is Georgie's second State representation, after representing Queensland at the Nationals in Shepparton Victoria last year. Isabelle though brings up a remarkable third consecutive selection in the Queensland side after donning the maroon jersey in 2012 and 2013.
Both players saw it is a great honour but understood the importance of their role in growing female participation in Australian Rules.
"It is a great honour but I know the importance and responsibility that comes with this selection," three time Queensland representative Isabelle Baldock told AFLDD media.
"Not only is it a great honour but I understand that we play important role in promoting and growing the game across the Darling Downs," Seaniger added.
Seaniger and Baldock will head to the nations capital from the 3rd to 9th May to contest the 2014 National Championships.
With round robin opponents Victoria Country and Metro, along with Western Australia both need that they will need to be at their peak come the championships.
"We have a tough draw, we know that and to win, I guess you have to beat the best and we face the best," Georgie said of the tough draw Queensland face at the 2014 Nationals.
Though Baldock said they have a terrific conditioning base coming into the championships and believe the can match it with the Championships best.
"We've been working hard on building our fitness base since November and we have definitely worked hard in the lead up," Baldock said.
"Comparing to previous programs, I believe we are ahead with our overall fitness and believe we will be able to match the likes of Vic metro and Western Australia", Isabelle Baldock added.
AFLDD Media will keep the region up to date with the girls progress across the championships.
