The AFL Sydney Women’s Round 1 Rising Star nominee is Kate Stanton of Wollongong Saints.
Kate commenced with auskick when she was 5 years old with the Northern District Tigers. She played through auskick, u/9's, u/10's and u/12's often stepping up an age group.
In 2010, she played in the Youth Girls competition with the Northern District Tigers playing as an 11 year old against 17 year olds. She won the district best & fairest for Youth Girls in 2011 as a 12 year old. She played again in 2012. The competition folded in 2013.
At the age of 15 years old, Kate has joined the Wollongong Saints and become a dynamic part of the midfield and forward line. Kate has shown she cannot be underestimated or intimidated by the more experienced players in the league.
