After three rounds of fixtures University and South Toowoomba sit-a-top the Division 2 ladder with an undefeated start to the season.
Expansion clubs Chinchilla and South Burnett round out the top 4, with the Highfields Lions in fifth on percentage. So far in season 2014, the reigning premiers have been knocked off twice; firstly the Roo's were beaten by the second placed Bombers and Chinchilla, who are on the rise in the west.
With fixtures to resume after the Easter long weekend, Coolaroo, Warwick and Dalby will be looking to kick-start their 2014 campaigns.
Though AFLDD Media has picked up on an interesting trend happening at the Lions den at Kratzke Oval.
An interesting trend that has been picked up is the father-son combination trending with the Highfields Lions. In particular in Round 3 when the Lions faced the Bombers, it was not one father-son combination but four father-sons.
Fathers Russell Baldock, Chris Grundon played along side their sons Sam Baldock and Will Grundon, with Ben Adams and Brian Bianchi involved with the coaching staff for the side with sons Josh (Adams) and Nathaniel (Bianchi) both donning the maroon, gold and blue.
AFLDD Media went back through archives to find the last time a combined combination of four father-sons were involved in the same fixtured game but weren't able to find any records of such a feat.
Unfortunately Highfields went down by 52-points and the father-sons didn't taste success together but AFLDD media hope it won't be the last time the father-son combinations play together.
It may be only a matter of time before they taste success or can Highfields win the Division 2 flag?
Father-son rule on the Downs? Not likely. Father-son premiership? Very possible. For now we will start the trend of #LionsFatherSon
