Ouyen United will host local rivals Walpeup Underbool in the first match of the round, and the result is poised to go down to the wire. Both teams were overrun by their opponents in the final quarter of their matches last week, and will be looking to make amends this week. Against a strong Sea Lake-Nandaly Tigers side, Ouyen showed that they are capable of finding multiple avenues towards goal, but will require a full 4 quarter effort from their young midfield brigade to ensure that Bradley Vallance and Robert Lindsey are able to control their forward line. Walpeup Underbool put in a strong showing last week, and will be looking towards the experience of David Piasente and Kane Munro to gain ascendancy in the match. They will need to capitalise on the quick legs of Ryan Stacey and Josh Stone to be able to keep up with the likes of Benjamin Mole and Ben Gregg.
Beulah will be looking to make amends for last season's disappointing finish when they play Woomelang-Lascelles at home in what is shaping up to be an evenly matched game. After an emphatic win against Hopetoun last week, they will be confident in their ability to keep up with the fast finishing Cats side. Both teams last week were especially good at moving the ball from their backline into attack quickly and cleanly, and both teams boast strong forward lines. Beulah will need Kim Hallam and Sam Martin on top of their game to shut down the Woomelang-Lascelles forward line, and similarly for Cats, Anthony Foott and Jack Shannahan will need continue their good form down back. Corey Kelly looms as the danger man for the Cats, and Beulah will need Shaun Monohan and Jason Turnbull to be every bit as good as they were last week.
Jeparit-Rainbow supporters will be keen to see what a host of new players are able to do out on the park as new coach Chris Meyer takes his team over to do battle with Sea Lake-Nandaly. Heath Clugston will work hard for Jeparit-Rainbow, and Nathan Cocks is poised for a solid season. Tyler Edelsten will need to put in a put in a big game as Sea Lake-Nandaly will put on a good show for their home crowd again, with Cliff Ryan, Jarrod Arentz, and Simon Weekley all in good form up forward. Lachlan Gilbert has settled well into the onball brigade for the Tigers, and will work well with Tom Summerhayes and the evergreen Col Durie over the course of the match. Jeparit Rainbow have put in a strong preseason and will want to set the tone for the season ahead with a strong performance this week.
Hopetoun have the bye this week.
