Summer Senior Grand Finals and Best and Fairest

The Grand Final in the Senior Men’s was between the top 2 teams after the minor round Eagles 67 defeated Roos 57. The 1st half of the game was of good standard with only 1 point separating them at long break and the game looked likely to go down to the wire. Roos Ben Reynolds was on fire scoring 12 points in the 1st half causing some trouble for Eagles as they were having difficulty stopping him close to the basket. After the main break however it was Eagles who started better with Scott Lonergan working his way into the game, but it wasn’t until the last quarter where he really broke loose and he finished with a 20 point second half which was enough to get his team Eagles over the line.

Grand Final high scorers: Eagles: S. Lonergan 30, A. Thorne 18, T. Watson 9. Roos: B. Reynolds 16, J. Elson 15, B. Tilley 12, B Wilson 8.

Tigers tightened up their defense in the second and Sally Houlihan of Tigers found some shooting form to make 8 points for the quarter. The score at the main break was Tigers by 1 point. Tigers outscored Pumas in the third with Donna Denton leading the way for her team but the key factor to Tigers holding the lead at ¾ time was the strong rebounding which limited Pumas to one shot offences. The last quarter was tight with both teams desperate to stay in the game and with Allan again finding some range Pumas were always there about and ready to take the win. But through the experience and some good shooting at crucial times from Lisa Duldig and Keah Lynch, Tigers held on to win by 2 points. Team high scorers: Tigers: D. Denton 16, S. Houlihan 10, K.
