Under 12 Boys (1)

Bellarine 43 defeated Geelong 27

Best Players:Max Scott, Billy Dawson, Kobe Shewry, Kai Keenan

Top Scorers: Max Scott10, Kai Keenan 9, Cody Smyth 6

Game Summary: The boys had a slow start to the game and at the end of first quarter, were up by four points.

As the game progressed so did our defensive intensity, and as a result we were able to lead for the duration of the game to finish with a comfortable win. It was great to see that all eight boys contributed on the score board, and all played great defence. Keep up the great work boys.

Next Week: Eltham (5) @ Eltham.

Under 12 Boys (2)

Bellarine 44 defeated Sunbury (3) 14

Best Players:Kalan Tatlock, Felix Geraghty and Eoin McNolty

Top Scorers: Felix Geraghty 12, Eoin McNolty 10, Tito Arnott 8

Game Summary: The boys came out firing in offence and didn't stop.  This week their team work was absolutely brilliant as was their defence.  We managed to stay with our player and create quite a few turnovers.  The boys’ shooting was extremely accurate and there were some great drives to the basket.  It was great to see that everything is starting click for them and I was very proud of how hard they worked and their encouragement of one another.  Keep up the great team work boys as it was exciting to see.

Next Week:  Sunbury (2) @ home

Under 14 Boys (1)

Bellarine 53 defeated Camberwell 43

Best Players:Hamish Goodier, Wil Jordan, Jeb Taylor-Hewson

Top Scorers: Hamish Goodier 24, Zac Kos 8, Tom Ness 8

Game Summary: It was great to get our first win in VC on the board.  Both teams were desperate and the game was intense.  Our defensive skills were excellent in the first half with scores level at half time.  The opposition received some tech fouls early in the second half and we took advantage of that with our free throw conversions.  We carried the momentum from there through the remainder of the game and held on for a good win.

Under 14 Boys (3)

Bellarine 42 defeated CorioBay (3) 35

Best Players: Daniel Clifton, Ethan Keenan

Top Scorers: Daniel Clifton 15, Sam Anderson 11, Ethan Keenan 7

Game summary: Throughout this week’s game the boys put up many shots that rattled the rim but somehow managed not to fall. However, it was a good third quarter by the boys that was the difference in this game. Our fans saw a great rebounding game by Ethan, Fraser and Jack. Sam and Harry worked well to penetrate the press to bring the ball out, while Daniel and Sam had good shooting games that included nice three point shots. A comfortable win in the end which allowed the team to try out a few different half-court defensive structures. Well done boys.

Next Week: Bye

Under 16 Boys (2)

Bellarine 43 defeated CorioBay (2) 29

Best Players: Clancy Whelan, Bryce Newton

Top Scorers: Clancy Whelan 25, Vincent Whelan 6, Bryce Newton 4

Game summary: CorioBay lead early through their inside scoring and full court pressure defence.  Bellarine looked flat for much of the first half, rushing on offence and taking too many early shots. CorioBay however failed to capitalise on our slow start and with scoring tight, Bellarine was surprisingly, only down a small marginal at half time.  Bryce Newton lead the way in the second half with his hunger and intensity which sparked Bellarine back into action, particularly Clancy Whelan who started to score more freely.  Bellarine also stepped up their intensity applying a half-court trap which caused opposition turnovers and by the end of third quarter had managed to wrestle back the lead and looked in control, finishing the game out strong.

Under 16 Girls

Bellarine 44 lost to Melbourne 62

Best Players: Eve Braslis, Raini Matthews, Holly Milsome

Top Scorers: Eve Braslis 16, Raini Mathews 10, Holly Milsome 10

Game summary: Melbourne got out to a strong start with Bellarine once again working hard, closing the deficit to 10 points. Despite winning the second half of the game, the girls were unable to close the gap that a strong Melbourne side had created early on. It was a promising show by a bottom aged side, against a mature and classy Melbourne team.

Next Week: Knox @ State Basketball Centre
