The next generation of coaches are ready to go for season 2014 after completing the first part of their level 1 coaching accreditation recently at Toowoomba State High, Mt Lofty Campus.
With over 30 new or re-accrediting coaches, the coaching stocks on the Darling Downs are in good hands for years to come. Regional Manager Keith Webb was delighted with 'the class of 2014'.
"It was a fantastic day, this year’s group were very energetic and enthusiastic about coaching and weren't afraid to ask questions," Webb said.
"We had a good mix of senior, youth and junior, along with male and female coaches."
The Class of 2014 had the privilege of presentations by AFL Queensland Coaching and Volunteer Manager Jack Barry along with Regional Umpiring Manager Darren Murphy and a cohort of AFL staff. The highlight for the new and re-accrediting coaches was when they were presented the new kicking school presentation, a new focus for all coaches across Queensland.
Regional Manager Webb said it is a massive focus across the State from 2014 onwards.
"It is a new initiative put in place by our (AFL Queensland) Talent Department, not only to help improve kicking and efficiency but to increase the chances of Queenslanders getting drafted into the AFL," Webb said.
"We will roll this program out at our AFLDD Coaches Conference later in the year and I am confident we will see a difference in skils across the region."
