O.T.I.P a Success in Yap

The Oceania Talent Identification Program (OTIP), organized by the Oceania Weightlifting Federation (OWF) was conducted in Yap by FSM Olympian and World Record holder Manuel Minginfel on February 20th and 24th.  The OTIP program aims to identify potential talented students for the sport of weightlifting and to educate students in the correct and safe methods of lifting.  The program was run at Yap at Yap High School and Seventh Day Adventist High School.  From the school program one student was selected to receive a free trip to New Caledonia.  The selected student, Devon Mirey of Gagil, will be staying and training at the Oceania Weightlifting Institute with many top pacific weightlifters.  The OWF will provide free airline tickets, accommodation and meals and 2 Oceania Institute t-shirts.

A big thank you to the schools for making the program a success.  Please feel free to learn more about weightlifting by visiting the International Weightlifting Federation website at www.iwf.net.   To learn more about weightlifting in Yap please call Manuel Minginfel at the sport complex at 350-5212.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
