Under 12 Boys (1)

Bellarine 51 defeated Bulleen (3) 37

Best Players: M.Scott, R. Devlin

Game summary: The Under 12 Boys led throughout the game at Altona. Apart from some inaccurate shooting they remained in control for the majority of play, with solid defensive structures and rebounding well. Max Scott, Rhys Devlin, Kobe Shewry and Billy Dawson all played consistent games.

Under 12 Boys (2)

Match Result: Bellarine 41 lost to Craigieburn (2) 53

Best Players: James McKenzie, Tito Arnott and Saxon Copeland

Top Scorers: Tito Arnott 9, Eoin McNolty 8 and James Mackenzie 8

Game summary: The boys had a great start to the game with some great team work and steals.  Unfortunately our passes let us down and we lost concentration for a while and let Cragieburn run away with the game.  An increase in our defensive pressure reduced the margin, but unfortunately Craigieburn’s shooting accuracy put the game out of reach in the last quarter.  There were two big highlights in the game, Saxon chasing down the ball and stealing it just as the opposition was about to shoot, and James' awesome rejection, even though it resulted in a foul.  All up great job boys, keep up the good work and hang in there as you are all doing really well.  Keep working hard at training and during the game.

Under 14 Boys (2)

Bellarine 50 defeated Melton (2) 44

Best Players: Baxter Nielson, Jackson Smith, Ben Crombie, Henry Walsh

Top Scorers: Ben Crombie, Baxter Nielson, Henry Walsh

Game summary: The boys started the game this week where they finished last week with great defensive pressure. This gave us turnovers from our opposition and fast breaks giving us a lead that we were able to keep for the whole game. Each time the opposition made an inroad into our lead we were able to hold tight, maintain our defensive pressure and then push forward again. Our best periods of play came when we were able to pass the ball efficiently and give our big men on opportunity to score inside, moves our opposition were unable to stop. Our team work continues to strengthen each game we play and we are improving our scoring spread each week.

Under 14 Boys (3)

Bellarine 43 lost to Collingwood (3) 52

Best Players: Daniel Clifton, Sam Anderson

Top Scorers: Daniel Clifton 19, Sam Anderson 9

Game summary: A much improved performance this week by the boys. After a slow start, the boys stepped up on the press and managed to make some outside shots, especially Daniel Clifton who shot four great three-pointers from the corners. The boys outscored the opposition in the last quarter but were unable to peg back the first quarter deficit.

Under 16 Boys (1)

Bellarine 42 lost to Mornington 61

Under 16 Boys (2)

Bellarine 57 defeated Coburg (3) 45

Best Players: C. Whelan, L. Hart, V Whelan

Top Scorers: C Whelan 30, L Hart 8, V Whelan 7

Game summary: Bellarine once again started slowly handing Coburg an early lead.  After a quarter-time rev-up the boys came out to play and increased their defensive pressure which lead to the opposition making mistakes with the ball. Bellarine was able to capitalise on Coburg's mistakes with a number of transition buckets which were a highlight of the night. Clancy Whelan drove the ball at will with team mates streaming down the court filling the lanes.  Some good passing all round lead to some easy inside buckets for the talls. The final quarter saw Coburg mount a mini comeback however the boys managed to hold their composure under pressure which was very pleasing.  The boys finished the game off strongly protecting the ball from the opposition and then making their foul shots to put the game out of reach.  Overall solid team effort.

Under 18 Boys

Bellarine 32 lost to Keilor (3) 34

Under 20 Boys

Bye

Under 12 Girls

Bellarine 27 defeated Sandringham (2) 23

Best Players: L.McFadyen, A. Northam, T.Gibson

Game summary: The girls played a fantastic team game and really showed how they have come together as a team nicely. Terrific defensive work ethic again made the difference and saw us hit a 10point lead early in the third quarter. Some lucky shots and a lapse in concentration on the defensive rebounds, saw Sandringham pull the lead back to within two. We kept our composure and with some great heads up plays toward the end of the game we hung onto victory by four points. Great signs of improvement and one happy coach!

Under 14 Girls (1)

Bellarine 40 def Broadmeadows 39

Best Players: Agnes Emma-Nnopu, Lucy McEvoy, Karli Bruce

Top Scorers: Lucy McEvoy 13, Agnes Emma-Nnopu 11, Sophie Milsome 6

Game summary: A nail biter for the girls who were up to six points down in the final quarter.  The girls managed to fight their way back to bring the scores level with less than a minute to go, when Karli received two free shots.  With eight seconds left in the game, Karli sunk the first free throw, to put the girls one point ahead and then win the game.  A great team effort from the girls, managing a win from behind to secure a Vic Junior League 1 position for 2014.

Under 14 Girls (2)

Bellarine 19 lost to Whittlesea (3) 36

Under 16 Girls
