The Randwick City Saints are pleased to announce the appointment of Mitch Rose as senior coach for the 2014 season.
Mitch will be supported by assistant coach Jeremy 'Jez' Grant as the club looks to build on the successes of last year when the senior side narrowly went down in the Division 3 Grand Final and the Reserves (Division 5) secured the club’s first premiership.
The womens side, the Angels will again be coached by 2013 Clubman of the year, Jason Thompson and will look to take the next step after debuting in Division 2 last year.
Both Mitch and Jez will continue as playing members of the Saints and in both cases, the appointments will mark their debuts as senior coaches.
Mitch brings an extensive footy CV having made his seniors debut for the Wagga Tigers at the age of 15 with further top level experience gained with the NSW/ACT Rams as well at the Queanbeyan Tigers in the ACTFL. Mitch has also played a number of games with the Sydney Swans reserves and more recently locally with Balmain before he joined the Saints last year.
Jez has been with the Saints for a number of years, being co-captain for the last two years including being runner up in the Best &Fairest and being voted as player’s player in 2013. Jez has also been one of the Under 16s coaches with affiliate unior club, the Maroubra Saints for last two years.
Club President, Andrew 'Baz" Blakemore as pleased to finalise the coaching set-up.
"As a community based club, we are very pleased to be able to appoint from within. We are excited about the appointment of Mitch, Jez and Jason and with strong numbers already at pre season, enhanced sponsorship deals with our key supporters the Coogee Diggers, Oriel Building Services and RGI we are quietly confident for a successful 2014 on and off the field."
Baz also noted "the great contributions made by retiring 2013 coaches James Van Beek and Peter Conduit, especially with the Condo being instrumental in securing our first premiership in our short history."
