Lyneham High School student Nelson Foley is currently in South Africa competing as part of the School Sports Australian Under 15 team.
The National team is taking part in a three game International Series against South Africa.
The series is being used a preparation for the International Cup being held in August this year.
Nelson was part of the history making ACT Under 15 School boys side who defeated Vic Metro at the National Championships last year for only the second time.
Nelson was named best on ground in that game, and is the only ACT representative selected in the National team.
The team arrived at Tambo Aiport, Johannesburg last Wednesday ahead of a their first game on January 18.
The boys spent their first day in South Africa visiting popular tourist attractions, such as the Apartheid Museum.
In the lead up to the game, the team also travelled to the former home of Nelson Mandela in Soweto for an interesting history lesson.
The Australian team played their first game on Saturday, defeating South Africa 16.17.113 to 13.10.88 in a closely fought contest.
The match was played at the University of Pretoria in hot and humid conditions, with the Australian boys fighting off a late comeback from the South African side who kicked their way to within just ten points at three quarter time.
