St George have announced their coaches for 2014 with Terry Mudge again taking the helm as senior coach.
Mudge will be returning for his 4th year in charge of the Dragons after coaching them to the Preliminary Final in 2013. In the three previous years under Mudge, St George has steadily improved from finishing seventh in Mudge’s first year, fifth in his second and third in the previous season and will be hoping that 2014 brings premiership glory. Mudge will have a new assistant team with Gavin Raper, who coached St George’s Division Two side to premierships glory in 2012, and Kieran Donohue being appointed Assistant Coaches.
In Division One, Ben Merson has been named head coach after a distinguished career in Western Australia. Merson played for West Perth in the WAFL, including coaching some junior WA representative teams. His focus will be on skill development to prepare players for promotion into the Premier Division team. He will be well supported by Assistant Coaches Damian Bruty, who played AFL extensively across the strong country Victorian leagues, including coaching the Heathcote league representative team, and Bryce Green, who played over 2 seasons for East Fremantle in the WAFL as well as coached an A Grade amateur team in Perth.
In the Under 19s, Derek Waters will be in charge again after coaching the Under 18s side the previous two seasons and taking them to third in 2013. Todd Sanderson joins the coaching panel as Assistant Coach after a playing career at Parramatta and coaching experience at Division 2 level and within junior football.
St George will be hoping that all their coaches can bring home premiership glory in season 2014.
