For the first time in the history of the club, the Warwick Redbacks could be fielding both an A-grade and a reserve grade side in the 2014 Darling Downs AFL competition.
Newly appointed club president Jason Wright said it was something he had been looking at for a few years.
"With the reserve grade side we are targeting players who can't necessarily make it to training every week, but still want to have a game," Wright said.
"Or players who are looking for a more social game."
Wright, who is also the senior coach, said the extra side would provide an opportunity for younger players to experience senior level football.
The Redbacks 2014 A-grade team is already shaping up with Wright confirming several new players had signed on.
"We have had a couple of new blokes sign on from AFL playing states Western Australia and Victoria," Wright said.
Wright said several under- 16 players would also join the ranks of the A-grade side.
"We have been training for about a month now," he said.
"Working mainly on our core strength and cardio fitness."
Next season will be Wright's first as the president, after holding the vice- president's role for the past eight years.
"I plan to continue the bulk of work that Keith Clarke has done during the past few years as president," he said.
"So continuing to promote the junior competition and growing the community culture within the club.
"This means not just fund-raising for our club but other community organisations as well." If you would like to get involved phone Jason Wright on 0409 499 352.
