After conducting AFL Combine’s to over 800 participants from diverse backgrounds and holding the inaugural Unity Cup involving two indigenous and two multicultural teams, AFL Queensland Darling Downs are pleased to announce that four Darling Downs players have been named:
Indigenous player Barwoo Fisher has been named in the 2014 Diversity Squad made up of players from across the state from both indigenous and multicultural backgrounds. Barwoo will contest with his team the 2014 Under 16 AFL Queensland State Championships in April/May.
Three players from Sudanese backgrounds from the region have been named in the 2014 All Nations Squad. This side that includes Ngor Makuash, Davis Deng and Isaac Mach will contest the national All Nations Championships in Coffs Harbour from April 11 – 16 2014. The All Nations team includes players from CaLD backgrounds from across Queensland.
This is a fantastic result and well done to the four young men on their selection in their respective sides.
