Brisbane Lions legend Darryl White help promote the Chinchilla SUNS as they look to rise to greater heights in 2014.
As part of the statewide Deadly Sports Program held recently, more than 500 primary school students from across Chinchilla and the Western Downs region met with their sporting heros to learn discipline, leadership, self-esteem and confidence through sport.
One of those lucky students was Chinchilla State School’s Rachael Gent who will play for the Chinchilla Suns next year with the skills of a lion thanks to her “dream” meeting with Brisbane AFL great Daryl White.
Rachael said it was a school day that would be hard to beat.
“I liked getting to play the team sports the best because we got to get in and work together and have the professionals play too,” she said.
It was a big day for the three-time premiership player White who assisted Development Coordinator Jeff Neumann throughout the clinics. Neumann was all praises for White and said that White may make an appearance in the Guernsey.
"Darryl was fantastic, pumped up the SUNS, loved their jersey when he put it on and was even keen to maybe put it on for a game in 2014," Neumann said on Darryl White.
"For someone who is such an icon of our great game, he has played 268 career games, won premierships and so much more, to be giving back to the game, shows how much of a legend he really is," Neumann added.
