Unity Cup aims to engage participants from Indigenous and Multicultural backgrounds from across the state identified via school and community talent identification combines.
The Darling Downs entered two teams into the inaugural Unity Cup held AFL HQ at Leyshon Park, a boys (All Nations #2) girls side as well in the community pool. Although results didn't go the boys way, they finished the day off strongly with their faces beaming with smiles.

In the Girls Community Pool the Pink Panthers were too strong for Team Blue, running out 17-point victors in the final game of the fun round robin games. The Regions Multicultural Ambassador Ross Savill was all praises for the AFL Queensland Unity Cup which gave both boys and girls the opportunity to play Australian Rules no matter their background.
"Many of these boys and girls who came with us have stories of the days prior to coming to Australia that seem almost unbelievable, of living in refugee camps of 100,000 people," Savill told AFLDD Media.
"It is a big deal what the AFL did, to see those kids out there running around playing AFL, having fun and feeling good about themselves was great," Savill added.
Stay tuned as big plans are set for 2014 Multicultural programs.
