Redland has announced a slew of big-name signings ahead of the 2014 NEAFL season.
NEAFL Northern Conference Rising Star, Josh Smith, comes across to the bay, after a sensational season with the Morningside Panthers.
The Darling Downs product averaged 28 possessions a game, Smith was the standout youngster in the NEAFL Northern Conference this season, also finishing second in the Panthers’ best and fairest.
Former Brisbane Lions rookie, Stephen Wrigley, headlines a swag of stars joining the Bombers next season.
Wrigley, who was picked up in the 2011 rookie draft while playing for Labrador, comes back to the NEAFL after a bad run with injury in the AFL.
The youngster managed three senior games in two years at the Lions, with his 2013 season cut short after rupturing his ACL in a pre-season match.
Another big gain will be the recruitment of Mt Gravatt best and fairest winner, Luke Scott.
Scott, a former Western Magpies premiership player, has been a consistent performer for the Vultures in his time at Dittmer Park.
Another major coup for the Bombers is the recruitment of Southport spearhead Cleve Hughes
The 26 year-old, who spent three seasons at Richmond, will be a handy injection into the Bombers’ forward line, having kicked 33 goals this season – 10th in the NEAFL Northern Conference.
Lastly, former Port Adelaide rookie, Darren Pfeiffer will be heading up to Redland in 2014.
South Australian product, Pfeiffer comes to the Bombers after stints at three different AFL clubs –Adelaide, Carlton and the Power.
In between AFL Clubs. Pfeiffer spent a season at Southport in 2010, before returning to Norwood in the SANFL.
The 26 year-old played in a premiership for Norwood this season and is now relocation to Queensland to continue university and play in the NEAFL.
