Supporters XI Nominees – Moreton Bay Jets

Moreton Bay United Jets earned a reputation as tough and unrelenting side in their first year of competitive football, seamlessly blending a mixture of youth and experience into the match day squad. A mid-table finish belied their competitive nature, with the Jets challenging many of NPL Queensland’s top sides for the full ninety minutes.

Moreton Bay Jets earned three nominations to the 2013 NPL Queensland Supporters XI.

Marko Radovanovic (Goalkeeper)

Still only 24 years old, Marko Radovanovic is one of the most experienced goalkeepers in the league following his time in the QSL and Brisbane Premier League. His organisation and experience showed this year as he kept the Moreton Bay backline organised as they found their feet in the NPL.

An expert communicator and with reflexes like a bear-trap, Radovanovic was a crucial contributor to Jets debut season. Radanovic was nominated to the Supporters XI by NPL Queensland Premiership winning Olympic coach Jim Bellas.

Josh South (Right Back)

Josh South was one of the stand-out younger players of the inaugural NPL Queensland season. Originally enlisted to play Under 20’s, South thrived in his new environment and quickly progressed to the senior side, where his versatility on the right hand side proved a handful for opponents.

His talent was recognised by A-League club Wellington Phoenix, who signed the 21 year old to a one year deal for the current season.

South received an incredible five nominations to the Supporters XI, and was the only Moreton Bay player nominated by Jets head coach Terry Kirkham. His list of admirers includes FNQ FC Heat Techincal Director Chris Collins, “‘His A-League contract says everything and after a season of consistency is touted to progress.”

Karl Dodd (Centre Back)

The highly experienced former A-League player provided defensive resolve to the Jets backline at the start of the season, teaching many of the younger members of the harsh realities of senior football. A tenacious defender who happily performed the unglamorous tasks necessary at the back, Dodd departed the club midway through the campaign to take up a coaching position with A-League club Newcastle Jets.

Dodd was nominated to the Supporters XI by his former Brisbane Roar teammate and current QAS Head Coach Josh McCloughan. He said, “Limited appearances but was still the standout - he talks, he can pass and he organises the defence.”
