AFLDD Media review the season of each of the regions clubs, reviewing the season that was including the club highlights and key moments throughout 2013.
Lockyer Valley are third on the AFLDD season in review list and it has been another interesting year for the Demons with a number of highs and lows. Season 2013 saw the Demons enter sides in the Allied Pickford's Cup, the inaugural Women's competition along with junior teams in the Under 8's, Under 10's, Under 12's, Under 14's and Under 16's.
With over 137 playing members now at the club, the Demons have come along way since their first season which saw only 43 playing members on the clubs list.
The clubs Under 16's and Women's sides were the Demons most successful in 2013 with the young Demons making it through to the first week of finals and the Women's side making it through to the inaugural Women's Grandfinal.
Lockyer Valley's under 12's had an up and down season winning 5 of their 15 home and away matches. The Demons most impressive wins for the season were in Rounds 4 and 17 both against Toowoomba East winning both clashes by a narrow 3-points.
For the Lockyer's Under 14's it was a tough year with only the two victories but their most memorable win was in Round 5 against the Warwick Redbacks when Bailey Dalgliesh had a field day kicking five majors in a best on ground performance in the 3-point victory.
The Allied Pickford's Cup was another tough year for the Demons with just the two victories, both in the latter part of the season. Round 12 the Dee's recorded the clubs biggest win ever when they defeated Chinchilla by 105 points at the Gatton Showgrounds. Their second win will however go down in the history books as their greatest win so far when they defeated the 2012 pre-season champs Highfields Lions by 23-points.
Damien Morris and Joseph Goodman tore the Lions a part in the memorable victory.
Exciting news also came during the 2013 DDAFL Finals series when the Demons locked away a new playing venue at Cahill Park Sporting Complex. Posts were installed and the new home of the Demons will be ready for the start of the 2014 season. Lockyer Valley also secured funding for spectator facilities in early November for their new home base that will sure to be the best in the league.
Coach/President Tony Bowers flew the Demons flag high when he represented Queensland at the Over 45's Masters Nationals in Darwin throughout October.
2014 will be the fifth year for the Demons and no doubt will be all business as they look to climb the ladder in all age groups and bring home that elusive Premiership Cup back to the Lockyer Valley.
