National Basketball Championship Te Runga 2013
The number of men's basketball teams registered was 15 who representing outer island such as; Makin, Butaritari, Marakei, Abaiang, TUC, BTC, Arorae, Maiana, Beru, Tab North, Tab South, ETC, Abemama, Aranuka, Tamana and except Kiritimati and line phoenix. For women's team there were two rep from TUC, BTC, Arorae and Marakei. Before the start, fixtures has been generated for both men and women teams according to the number of teams registered in the competition and then circulated via emails, advertised in radio, newspaper and also distributed to each team captain from each teams for those who can't access internet.
Preparation during Te Runga
Everything has been orgarnised well from people around basketball amprella who arrange seat, set up tents, tables for score benches and cleaning around the court premises. These people were tasked by the competition manager of basketball who is the counterpart person to get things done and ready, reporting back and forth to ONOC with results, announcement on radio and so forth. These was happened everyday.
Officials
There were 15 officials who has been accredidate to look after the games everyday. These officials included 10 referees and 5 scorebenches and rotate everyday. They were payed with the maximum of 10.00 per day on a daily basis by the KSA (Kiribati Sport Authority) according to Te Runga regulation 2013. NBDO and the federation were contribute alot during the games by organising the roster for officials where they can get payed everyday. During officiating, there were teams complains with rules and they report back to the federation and NBDO to make a better understanding with rules. NBDO and officials were met every Wednesday night after the game by evaluating and cosuling each referees and scorebenches to work on their weaknesses for improvement in the next day match.
Prizes
The KSA provides all prizes including teams and individual sport such trophies, metals, silver and bronze. Basketball were received trophies for men and women team for first prizes and cash for runners up(second and third).
Fixture
Fixture has been generated in FIBA Organizer by using round robin for men's teams and normal competition for women. Men split into two pools (A&B) according to a position from Te Runga 2010 and get in the top 4 ranking appropriately and the rest of teams get in by draw.
