Sydney Hills Eagles
How their year went
Sydney Hills had a tough opening month, conceding over 100 points in each of their losses. The Eagles won their only game in Round 10 down south against Illawarra. Finished with the worst defensive record and percentage in the competition.
What they need
With their top grade in the NEAFL competition, Sydney Hills Eagles need to continue to build their pool of depth, especially in key positions.
Shining lights
Veteran Mark Skuse helped add some experience to the Eagles, along with Ryan Fitton. A few of their young players graduating from the Under 18 system took a step forward.
Season defining moment
Their opening round effort against fellow NEAFL outfit Sydney University showed they were going to struggle against most sides in the Premier Division competition. They leaked too many points which became a common theme.
Grade
D
After winning five games last year, the Eagles went backwards this year and struggled especially in defence.
2014 prediction
The Eagles simply need more depth so their efforts over the off-season will almost be as important in determining where they should finish next season. They are too good a club to finish as low next season.
