Juniors excel in Qld Sabot Championships On the Queen's Birthday long weekend seven BSS sabots made the trek to Yeppoon for the Queensland State Sabot Championships. Twenty-nine sabots from across the state came to sail at Keppel Bay Sailing Club in a north verses south regatta. Conditions were varied with light steady sea breezes on the Saturday whilst Sunday was a mixed bag, moderate to light with some big shifts. Our sailors did particularly well in the testing conditions and the racing was always very close. In the 1-ups, local Yeppoon sailor Kimberly White was able to grab a third placing in the last heat to finish on equal points as Lachie Robba and snatch the title on a count-back. BSS showed its depth of junior talent with Alex Ker coming third on count-back over Natalie Koreman. Trevor Koreman and Frazer Smith sailing their first one up regatta showed that they will be a force to reckon with by finishing 6th and 7th respectively. Nick Eutick also showed good form to finish 13th overall. So out of the twenty-one 1-up sailors BSS did very well to score 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 6th, 7th and 13th. There were eight 2-up sabots vying for the honors. BSS was represented by Lily Geck and Carlton Smith sailing Kid Blast. They put together a consistent performance by winning the last three races to take the championship by one point. Yeppoon the a beautiful place to visit, Keppel Bay Sailing Club is always friendly, and the weather was a warm break from the cool weather in Brisbane
