Well footy heads, what a great weekend the Prelim Final weekend turned out to be! For the first time this season, I picked all the correct winners!
And that includes my Division 2 quick picks making it 5 from 5. To all my fans out there, I do apologize for the delay in getting the review to you, but I have been waiting for the Demons to put their results into Sporting Pulse. Not sure what their hold up is, maybe still bitter about the loss?
Not sure, but I've decided today the show must go on, even without the Demons!
Toronto Dingos 7.7.49 def Toronto Rebels 5.3.33
The Toronto Tankers no longer, all hands were on deck on Saturday as the Dingos faced off against the Rebels for a Grand Final spot. They seemingly jumped the Rebels with a quick 3 goals to 1 first quarter and never looked back, leading at every change.
Stewart was solid with 3 goals while Bell picked in with 2 goals. Big Wade looks like he might have been well held, or possibly back to his wayward kicking but Mal Brady was judged BOG for the Dingos.
The slow starting Rebels fought hard and looking at the final quarter scores had their chances, but couldn't put the score on the board. Fabbri BOG supported by Karavias with 3 goals. Missing a few names up front, they will be licking their wounds now.
Phantom Prediction - 1 from 1 and very close on the margin!
Broadview Hawks 13.12.90 def High Park Demons 6.8.46?
The Demons score is a little bit of guess work going from the @AFLOntario tweets from last weekend. Unfortunately the Demons haven't managed to put up the scores, although they do have their best players up? Strange.
Anyway, this was nothing short of a demolition by the Hawks who are now only 4 quarters away from a flag. Shuttleworth unstoppable with 7 goals and a BOG performance backed by Afjal, Mitchell, Forrest and Royle. 25 scoring shots from the Hawks, with some more accurate kicking the margin may have been higher.
The Demons can be proud of making it that far though. Sorry I can't say much more about their performance but Carmen, Kelly, Casey and Quigley rounded out their best players.
Phantom Prediction - 2 from 2.
WOMEN
High Park Demons 6.4.40 def Ottawa Swans 4.5.29
Fortunately the High Park women have no problem putting up their results in what turned out to be an even closer game than I had imagined!
The Swanettes came to play and had a red hot go against the Demons! Erin Armstrong was solid with two goals back by Holly Costanza and Margo Legault with a goal a piece. These two ladies also featured in the best players with Kirsten Bodashefsky awarded best on ground honours.
A great effort from the Swanettes but unfortunately it was not enough to take out the Mighty Demons lead by Loughnane with 3 goals. She was backed by McNulty, Lenihan and Valaitis with a goal a piece in what looks to have been a solid team effort on the day. Dusting off the cob webs and getting the win in preparation for their Grand Final rematch, the second in two years, against the Wildcats next week Phantom Predictions - 3 from 3.
And there you go.. All three Grand Finals are set to go and what a weekend it should be! Be sure to check back tomorrow as I my Grand Final predictions up.. Until then..
