President of both the junior & senior league, Andrew Foley, has won the 2013 AFL Darling Downs Senior League Volunteer of the Year award, announced at last Saturday night's Volunteer Recognition Night.
Andrew has been one of the key drivers in the coming together of both the junior and senior league. In 2013, the two associations trialled holding one meeting and electing one person to lead both organisations. This is set to go further with a full amalagamation proposed for the 2014 season.
Andrew has helped bring order to meetings and is a key driver to see the league improve its structure moving forward. Andrew thinks outside the box and isn't afraid to stick his head out for something he beleives is right.
Football in the Darling Downs is certainly stronger for his involvement and may we hope it continues for many years to come.
Andrew has now been nominated as the regional winner for the State Senior League Volunteer of the Year award to be announced in November.
Over the next two weeks a feature on each of our volunteer & coach of the year winners will be published on darlingdowns.aflq.com.au
