Norths will go head to head with history next Saturday against a team that has played every AFL Cairns grand final since 2007.
Saints have won 10 premierships in 20 seasons and will line up for yet another this weekend.
The red, black and white showed they would be hard to stop when they beat the Tigers in a dogged semi-final last weekend and a have had the week to freshen up for the biggest game of the year.
In contrast, Norths have not made a grand final since the notorious 2004 decider, which finished in a no result after a pre-game fight.
Before that their last premiership was in 1988, well before many of the current team were born.
"It's going to be a massive challenge, but that's what we want," Tigers' captain-coach Kane Richter said.
And Richter said they would embrace the history rather than dismiss it.
"It's been a long time between drinks and a lot of hard work has been done around the club to get us back here.
Saints are a good side - the benchmark of recent years - we're keen for the contest and happy it's us that get to go out there and have a crack."
