A host of rising stars have lifted their draft prospects with fine performances in AFL Victoria’s Young Guns game today.
With the two sides boasting some of the TAC Cup and VFL’s most exciting talent, along with promising footballers from country and metropolitan competitions, a bevy of AFL recruiters were in attendance.
In a thrilling game of end to end football, numerous players caught the eye.
Among them was the oldest player on the field, Sandy Robinson, who plays his football with Port Fairy in the Hampden league.
The 25-year-old was dangerous across half forward and in the ruck before moving down back in the final term.
Casey Scorpions duo Mitch Gent and Jake Best (three goals) were also prominent, while North Ballarat’s Nick Rippon was in everything.
Western Jets forward Jason Robinson also won plaudits for a final term that yielded three goals.
Robinson’s strong hands were impressive for a medium sized forward, while James Toohey (Oakleigh Chargers) at half back and Corey Buchan (Frankston) on a wing both enjoyed moments of brilliance.
Coburg’s Ozgur Uysal and Frankston’s Jason Pongracic won plenty of ball in close, while the Geelong VFL listed Tom Gribble showed signs with his lethal left foot.
More to come
