The first team has booked its spot in the Peter Jackson VFL Legendairy Grand Final with Geelong completing a commanding win over Williamstown.
The Seagulls led for only a minute in the first term as Geelong showcased why they will be hard to stop as they try to add back to back flags.
Cats into Grand Final
Geelong has won through to back to back Grand Finals with an 82-point demolition of Williamstown. Just seven days after its clinical 87-point win over Port Melbourne, the tables were turned on the Seagulls, with Geelong continuing their winning streak to bring up 13 on the trot.
After a goal for goal opening to the game, Geelong kicked the last two goals of the first term to take a handy 14 point lead into the the first break.
Those two goals would be the start of an 11-goal unanswered run which saw Geelong out to a 68-point lead early in the third term - with Williamstown kept goalless in the second quarter.
By half time Shane Kersten had kicked four goals for the Cats, with the likes of Ryan Bathie and Josh Walker providing plenty of support.
The strength for the Cats was from its backline, with Jed Bews, Jackson Sheringham, Cam Eardley, Mitch Brown, Matt Sully and Joel Hamling shutting down the forward options for Williamstown that has been destructive just a week earlier.
Trent West (66 hitouts) was able to give his midfield of George Horlin Smith (26 disposals), Troy Selwood (27) and Mark Corrigan (30) first use of the ball, which helped the Cats to 18-8 clearances in the important second term.
WHile Williamstown ensured the margin did not ballon out any further than 87 points in the final term, Geelong had completed a consistant performance with six goals per term in an ominous performance for either of the Grand Final opponents.
Walker finished with five goals, Kersten with four (after being rested due to soreness from midway through teh third term) and Jordan Murdoch kicked three. Jason Tutt, Anthony Anastasio and Jack Johnstone kicked two each for Williamstown.
Horlin Smith best for Geelong, along with Murdoch, Brown, Eardley, Walker and Sully. For Williamstown their best were Willie Wheeler (25 disposals), Ben Jolley (28), Johnstone (in a run with role on Jordan Schroder), Lukas Markovic, Anastasio and Jamie McNamara.
Geelong will play the winner of Sunday's Preliminary Final between Box Hill Hawks and Werribee Tigers at North Port Oval.
The Grand Final will be played on Sunday September 22, at Etihad Stadium at 2:15pm.
