Brock Aston capped of an outstanding season for Darling Downs representative players last night when he took out the Western Taipans U14 Best and Fairest players award at their annual awards function held at Sherwood AFC.
Aston polled 1 more vote than his closest rivals during the U14 State Championships back in July to win the award and was very humble in his acceptance speech thanking his team mates and parents. Brendon Shelton also added to his League Best and Fairest win last week by being named the U14 Rising Star, while playing in the same team.
Further emphasising the strength of Darling Downs players, Aston, Shelton and ex-Lockyer Valley Demon Wylie Buzza were named in the combined U14/U16 Western Taipans Team of the Year.
Both Aston & Shelton are likely to poll very well in this Saturday's U14 Best & Fairest count, although their attention will be firmly on lining up for Coolaroo in next Saturdays Darling Downs Grand Final.
