1. Hawks coach Sean Trevellion calls his players to recive their premiership medals
2. Bombers heading out to do battle in the Grand Final
The Hawks started the senior Grand Finals with a hard fought win over neighbour Wirrulla on the weekend. After a close first quarter, the Hawks set up their ascendancy in the 2nd quarter to lead by 28 points at half time. Wirrulla was unable to reproduce to open football that earned the first spot in the grand final.
The LW Feltus Medallian for best afield was won by Simon Tucker, a wonderful player over many years at the Hawks and for a while as aTiger. His poise and accurate disposal set up many younger Hawks runners. Nathan Jones arrival at the club this year has been a revelation, his ball winning ability and team work is excellent, and again he was a prime mover. Gerard Montgomerie, unlucky to miss out on the A Grade final showed that he will be back in the As next year, and Darren Guidera also very high in the best. "Axeman" Darren Brown lead the scoring with 5, and Nathan Jones with a couple.
Bombers have had a great season, finished at the top of the table, and will be disappointed that the Grand Final ended up being probably their flatest match of the year, they just were not able to achieve the run on or quick goals that they have all year. Troy Olsen kicked three and was a major target along with Lynton Pym. Chris Dickson tried his heart out, Vinnie Blumson, Clayton Perry finishing off great seasons, Craig Johnson's marking ability and shear strength shone out, and the evergreen Judd Evans produced another great finals performance.
Congratulations to the Hawks, Reserves Premiers 2013
