B Grade Wirrulla v West Coast Hawks
A strong and confident Bomber outfit seems to have been preparing for a Grand Final raid for some time, their side has been reasonably well settled and boasts all the key weapons that are needed at Elliston. Troy Olsen, Craig Johnson, Lynton Pym, Darren Mudge and A Grade premiership players and all in great form at the right time, Andrew Patterson is well experienced in finals and a master tactician at the helm. The hamstring injury of League Montgomerie Medallist is a concern, but he will be given every chance. Saul Webb, Clayton Perry, Daryl/ Ben Lawrie and Andrew Atkinson have been outstanding contributors all year The Hawks are fielding both seniors teams so will play a more regular line up, albeit a very impressive one. The Hawks have the best depth amongst clubs, with Phil Hargans, Darren Brown, Darren Guidera and Simon Tucker all keys. Young runners will be called upon, Sam Johns, Tyson Squire, Kyle Tucker are impressive speedsters, Lachlan and Robert Miller, Dion Trezona and Leroy Johnson take in commanding form.
Wirrulla won through by beating the Hawks in the second semi quite comfortably by about eight goals in the end, but less than a goal in it at the half. This will be closer though, the grand finals always bring out the best. Even a draw between the two during the year underlining closeness, the Bombers however start favourites. They have lead the competition for most of the year and have undoubtedly the strongest reserves forward line set up that we have seen for a while. The Hawks are proud and wont make this easy though.
