Well footy heads, Round 12 is here and the amazing thing for football is that everyone down to 9th place has a chance to make the finals.
Keeping in mind that the Roos, Rebels, Eagles and Swans have two games in hand including this weekend.
So who knows what will happen this weekend, anything is possible!
Toronto Dingos v High Park Demons
The Demons have just come off a strong last quarter effort over the Rebels last week to have themselves in contention of making the finals. A win this week doesn't lock them in, but it gives them a definite chance.
They will no doubt be hoping that the Dingos are going to come out complacent and not really concerned on getting a win.. Rumour has it that's what they already believe and are very confident of a win. Can they continue with their form or will their goal scoring issues come back to bit them?
The Dingos have a "Top 2" spot locked up and a win or loss won't change anything - they potentially could finish on top but it doesn't really matter. That said, the Dingos are proud and have played well this year. I am sure they aren't going to want to go into the finals with a game loss against the Demons. With Stewy back and possibly Obie too, they will be too strong for the Demons.
Phantom Prediction - Dingos by 25 points
Etobicoke Kangaroos v Guelph Gargoyles
This game features two more teams with their seasons on the line. The Roos need a win this week to even have a possibility of making the finals, while a win this week will secure Guelph a spot.
Both teams were beaten pretty well last week and while the scoreboard was a bit more generous to the Roos, I am sure the Hawks took it easy after their big first quarter. You'd expect the Roos to fight hard this week for a slim chance at finals, especially seeing as they won the whole thing last year!
The Gargoyles will bring everything they have this week and with Rogers TV in town, the front running Etobicoke Aussies will be there, hair gelled and ready to star. Could make for an interesting outing!
Phantom Prediction - Roos 1 point
Broadview Hawks v Toronto Rebels
In a nothing game for the Hawks, the Rebels will be hoping that some of the Hawks stars will be either on ice or taking it easy pre finals. The Hawks have just come off a pretty easy win over the Roos which locked up their "Top 2" spot.
The Rebels let the Demons run over them in the fourth quarter last week and are staring down the barrel of missing the finals should some results not go their way, although there would need to be more than one. My question is will the Rebels show up this week?
Despite all this, the Hawks are the best team in the competition and you would have to be crazy to pick the Rebels on their recent form especially with King out with injury.
Phantom Prediction - Hawks by 30 points
Ottawa Swans v Central Blues
Yet another game with two teams having everything to play for, the Blues travel to Ottawa for a showdown with the Swans at RCR. A win for the red hot Blue Boys could see them lock in a spot in the "Top 6" - although where depends on other results of course.
The Swans are also pretty red hot at the moment and will no doubt be ready to go this week at home. A win here will lock them into an elusive finals spot while a loss, even with a game in hand could see them fall short.
This one should definitely be an interesting battle, especially considering how this game meant nothing a month ago!!
Season on the line for both teams in this one Phantom Prediction - Blues by 4 points
Toronto Eagles v Hamilton Wildcats
While the Eagles had a loss to the Blues last week, you need to give a little credit to the guys who have third place locked in. They were short, missing key players and add to the fact they were coached pretty poorly and you can see how the Blues took advantage on the day.
They will be chomping at the bit for this week against the winless Wildcats, hoping to gain some momentum going into the finals and hopefully the Hamburgular can do something (anything!) up forward this week!
The Wildcats on the other hand will be keen to see the season over and done with, and focus on next year. Honestly who could blame them.
Phantom Prediction - Eagles by 55 points
WOMEN
Etobicoke Kangaroos v Hamilton Wildcats
In what looms to be a fairly big game for both teams, the Roos will be looking to take the scalp of the Wildcats and potentially take second spot.
A Wildcats win will see them lock in second place and a date with the undefeated Demons in the first week of the finals.
This game is also to be recorded by Rogers TV so a great showing is expected from both sides. A tough one to call, the Roos probably don't have the scoring prowess of the hard hitting Wildcats
Phantom Prediction - Wildcats by 22 points
Ottawa Swans v Central Blues
While unable to drop out of the Top 4 or move up the ladder, the Swannettes will no doubt be looking for a big win to finish off the Home and Away season strong before the finals.
The Blues are winless for the season and while they had a solid showing last week against the Roos, are up against it this week in the Nations Capital. Although in saying that, a win for the Blues girls would be a nice way to finish a tough season and build confidence for next year.
Phantom Prediction - Swans by 25 points
And there it is the final preview for the 2013 season before finals (excluding the make-up games of course!). This should be a pretty exciting round with so many times fighting for a finals spot.
Be sure to keep in the mix on twitter with and . Also don't forget that Rogers will be filming and broadcasting two matches this weekend!
