Allied Pickfords Cup
University should remain locked in 1st unless they lose to South Toowoomba. Should they win, they could only drop to 2nd via percentage with a high scoring 1 point win & Coolaroo defeats Dalby approximately 180-0.
Tigers are locked in 3rd.
4 teams are fighting for positions 4, 5, 6 & 7. Goondiwindi has the bye and has to hope an upset does not go against them.
Goondiwindi receives a percentage boost due to their forfeit victory over Chinchilla. They receive the average of Chinchilla matches this season (42 – 156 at this point in time). Assuming Chinchilla’s match versus South Burnett is a similar result, Goondiwindi move to approximately 130%.
If Warwick upsets the Tigers they lock 4th place and a home final, should they lose, they will lose percentage and risk dropping below Goondiwindi.
- A 100-65 loss sees them drop to 130%. Last time they played, they lost 87-28 (129%). In essence Warwick must lose by less than 6 goals with defence being more important than scoring themselves.
Both South Toowoomba & Dalby have to win to remain in the hunt. Given their percentages are nearly identical to Goondiwindi’s they will have to win by at least 3 goals to get the percentage jump required, a win by anything less and they will suffer a percentage drop enough to remain below the Hawks.
McDonalds Under 16 Cup
Dalby is guaranteed top spot on the ladder.
Given Warwick has a bye, Coolaroo are guaranteed 2nd spot, with Warwick 3rd, unless Dalby defeated the Roos by around 400 points.
South Toowoomba can only drop to 5th by losing by 30 goals to University this weekend.
If University lose to South Toowoomba and Lockyer Valley defeat Highfields, the two clubs will be tied on wins. The difference between the two clubs results this weekend must be around 150 points for Lockyer Valley to sneak into 5th spot and drop University out. Given University has been on the slide and lost by an average of 102 points in their previous 6 matches, this could become quite tight in the battle for 5th.
Ironically, if Highfields can defeat the Demons, they have a slight percentage lead over the Demons. One which would mean their result and University’s would only have to differ by 20 goals, not 25 for them to leapfrog both clubs for 5th spot.
McDonalds Under 14 Shield
Highfields (currently 2nd) have a far superior percentage to top of the table Coolaroo. If Highfields defeat 9th placed Lockyer Valley and Coolaroo lose to 3rd placed Dalby, Highfields will take top spot and the week off.
Dalby can take 2nd place, but the result means nothing as they will still be playing at the same venue as if they were 3rd, albeit in the other changeroom.
South Toowoomba are guaranteed 4th spot.
University sit in 5th, one win ahead of the Toowoomba East Stingers. University plays South Toowoomba, a side they have not yet played in 2013. Toowoomba East plays Warwick, a side they have also not played for premiership points this season. University currently have a 13.3% lead, which equates to roughly 95 points. The Stingers must defeat Warwick and University must lose to the Bombers for the clubs to tie. The margin from the two crucial results must total 100 points for the Stingers to jump into 5th place and play again next week.
McDonalds Under 12 Shield
The Under 12 competition relies more on wins and losses from this weekend’s matches to determine the final makeup of the top 6 teams, however the top 3 could come down to the margin of victory.
Coolaroo will claim top spot if they defeat Dalby or lose by less than 4 goals (approximately) this weekend. Dalby have 4 premiership points to be added on from their narrow win over University last weekend, but they will suffer a percentage drop, depending on how high scoring the match was. Every goal University kicked will drop around 6.5% off of their percentage.
Warwick can not catch Highfields or Dalby on percentage and will have to rely on their victory and Highfields or Dalby losing to remain in the top 3.
Last time Highfields played Lockyer Valley they won 113-9, given the same result this weekend they will move to 396%, a result Dalby may not stay above even if they win. Like Dalby’s match last weekend, every goal they kick will only be worth 2%, while a goal conceded will drop almost 8.5% off their tiebreaker. In other words a 60-48 victory will still see Dalby drop below Highfields on percentage.
South Toowoomba & University play this weekend with the winner progressing through to next week, with the loser finishing 6th.
If University win they could finish as high as 2nd, although this would require Highfields & Warwick having upset losses to the Demons & Stingers. Should South Toowoomba win, they will find themselves no higher than 4th, unless of course they can win by almost 400 points.
The Under 12 competition recently saw South Burnett stripped of most of their premiership points due to playing overage players in the team.
