SASI Talented Athlete Scholarships on offer

Please see information and application forms for the following Individual Athlete Program  (IAP) scholarships and awards, an initiative of the South Australian Government and coordinated by the South Australian Sports Institute (SASI) through the Office for Recreation and Sport.

Important dates for SSO’s
SASI IAP opens – 17th August 2013
SASI IAP closes – 14th October 2013
SASI sends the applications to SSO’s for ranking and verification – 15th October
SSO’s to return feedback to SASI on the applications – 23rd October
SASI IAP review committee meet – 24th and 25th October
Athletes notified – 6th December 2013
2014 Scholarships / Award period starts – Jan 2014

SASI High Performance and Paralympic Scholarship
The Scholarships provide financial and service assistance negotiated on a case-by-case basis to individual athletes who have achieved an elite level of performance in a highly competitive international sport at the senior open level.  

SASI High Performance and Paralympic Scholarships are not available to athletes who are full scholarship holders in a SASI sports squad program or to athletes in sports where SASI conducts a squad program applicable to their age group for the full period of the scholarships. Only athletes competing in Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games disciplines are eligible.

SASI Talented Athlete Award
This Award provides financial assistance to talented junior athletes.  Please note athletes must be aged between 13-20 years (inclusive) on the 31 December 2013 to be eligible to apply for this Award.  Successful recipients of this Award will have demonstrated an outstanding ability to progress to the senior elite level of performance through their sporting achievements and talent identification in their sport, or through their identification in the SASI Talent Search Program.   SASI Talented Athlete Awards are not available to athletes who are full scholarship holders in a SASI sports squad program. Only athletes competing in Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games disciplines are eligible.

Country Athlete Award|
This scheme provides financial grants to junior athletes, between 13 and 18 years (inclusive) on the 31 December 2013, who are performing at high (state/national) level. Athletes must be from country areas, permanently residing 130km or more from the Adelaide GPO.  Only athletes competing in Olympic, Paralympic and Commonwealth Games disciplines are eligible.

 Eligibility details are listed in the guidelines.  Please note that there have been some changes to the eligibility criteria. 

Please assist us in getting this information to the ‘BEST’ athletes in your sportby distributing to:

  • Country athletes who you consider may be suitable applicants for these awards,
  • Coaches who can make information available to suitable applicants,
  • Associations that may have athletes in state development programs.
