Well footy heads, the footy season doesn't have a lot left in it, but there are quite a few teams vying for a spot in the Top 6. Great to see such a competitive season where really, anyone can win on the day! This round has a lot of great games, lets get into the preview
Broadview Hawks v Etobicoke Kangaroos
After coming off a bit of a shock loss at the hands of the Roos, I would expect the Hawks to bounce back into the winners circle pretty quickly.
They may have lost to the Blues last week, but that is merely a scratch in the armour of this team who are surely premiership favourites as it stands. A win this week gives them a pretty solid chance at locking in a top two spot, and they will turn their focus to September!
The Roos are really leaning back on the ropes! They need to have a win this week and see a few teams lose to hang onto their finals chances. Don't forget they have three games to play this season after missing their game against the Rebels a few weeks ago!
Phantom Prediction - Hawks by 5 goals
Central Blues v Toronto Eagles
The Eagles had a win last week but I was unimpressed with their footy. Prior to that they had basically lost two in a row after postponing their game in Ottawa, so while they are sitting pretty in second right now, I think they are hearing footsteps from below! The Hamburglar hasn't been seen in weeks, only heard! Screaming from the goal square.
Speaking of footsteps, the Blues are making noisy ones and have taken some scalps in recent weeks. The Doc has been on fire and Armstrong has been right there with him. They would be going into this game fairly confident of continuing the win streak and making it three in a row for the first time in a few years now!
Phantom Prediction a close game - Central Blues by 11 points
Ottawa Swans v Hamilton Wildcats
It may be a long shot, but a win at home this week and losses to the Roos, Blues and Demons will see the boys from the capital in the TOP 6!!
Don't write the Swannies off yet, they may be back in Toronto for some September action if they play well the next two weeks. Kozlowski's been back in the side, a great contributor and I've said all year, the Swans are on the improve.
The Cats have been blooding a lot of Rookies this year and similarly to the Swans don't have a lot of Aussie depth. Will they go to Ottawa just to party, or will they go up seriously trying to snatch 4 points and end the Swans finals aspirations?
The Swans Canadian contingent is a little further progressed than the Cats at this point in time, which will prove to be the difference.
Phantom Prediction - Swans by 31 points
Toronto Dingos v Guelph Gargoyles
A huge game for both teams, I think this will be a cracking game. The Dingos are still looking for a Top 2 finish and it is definitely possible, although dependant on two wins and some results falling their way. The Eagles are two points behind with 3 games to play so anything is possible.
Big Wade has been firing and they will be looking to continue good form heading into the final round of the season.
Guelph has been up and down all year and a big win over the Wildcats doesn't say much. Which Guelph team will show up on the day? They lost to the Dingos at home in Round 1 I believe it was, so it could be another tough outing considering it is in Toronto. A win this week should see them lock in a Top 6 spot before they take on the Roos in Round 12.
Phantom Prediction - Dingos by 23 points
High Park Demons v Toronto Rebels
In a Sunday game at Humber South, this is a make or break game for the Demons. While not quite guaranteed a finals spot, they have two pretty tough games to finish out the season with the Rebels this week and the Dingos next. They will probably need to win both in order to make it so the odds are not really in their favour.
The Rebels have been playing some ugly footy the last few weeks, and if they want to go anywhere come September - they need to get back in the winner’s circle. A win this week will lock them into the Top 6 - which would be a good result for a team that's not often seen in the finals in recent years.
Phantom Prediction - Rebels by 19 points
WOMEN
Etobicoke Kangaroos v Central Blues
This has the potential to be a good little game of footy, with both sides wanting the win for different reasons.
The Roos are just clinging on to that 3 position, so they need the win to keep from falling down the ladder and give themselves the best chance in the finals. They will no doubt be looking to the Quinn and the Amaral sisters to be standouts and help them get over the line.
The Blues have been very disappointing this year, no win, no points but a lot of determination. They will be looking to end their season on a high and a few wins will help bring a little excitement and enthusiasm for next year. Kelly-Witt, Nicholls and Tong will be trying their best to make this happen.
All in all though, the Roos should be too strong in this one and have little to no trouble dismissing the Blues this weekend.
Phantom Prediction - Roos by 5 goals
Ottawa Swans v Hamilton Wildcats
The Hamilton ladies make their way up to the Capital to face the Swans, in what will surely be a great clash. Both these teams have been very competitive this season and are the two who could potentially knock of the Demons come finals.
The Swans have the next two games at home and will be looking to set themselves up heading into finals. Dickinson , Bodashefsky and Dalla rosa have been playing some good footy and I could see them all having an impact in this one.
The Wildcats will benefit for having a few weeks off and will come into this one nice and fresh. I would expect Heil, Fluit, Comolli and Kwan to continue with their solid form this season and come out looking to take the points.
If the Wildcats win this one they will all but secure second spot on the ladder, were as the Swans will keep their own chance alive for the a top 2 finish.
The Swans did push the Dees to the limit last week, and should have the numbers to take this one out.
Phantom Prediction - Swans by 2 goals

Until next week!
