Meeting with Teachers
The meeting was organised by NBDO by distributing invitation letters to all senior secondary schools a week before the starting date. In the letter, agenda were written as well informing teachers that there are important issues need to be discuss in the meeting. There were 6 main issues in the agenda need to be done including: Election of board, opening/starting date, number of teams to participate, game regulations (uniforms and others), teachers training workshop (refereeing&coaching), registration fees/membership and other business need to discuss that day.
During the meeting teachers were too happy to discuss everything and show other need from their side that basketball Kiribati might need to work on forward. NBDO declared clearly to all teachers that the meeting was for clarrification and confirmation with things to be running in the event and indicate that the event is to be carried out every year instead of just regular competitions in schools.
For overall discussion, it has been confirmed that the opening of the event will be on the 24th of August for the belief that all 12 players from each schools will be participated upon receiving of 30.00 registration fees for boys and girls to KBF treasurer. All teams and members will be entered in FIBA Organizer and together with fixtures will be generated as well and to be circulated via emails and distributing ecopies for those who couldn't access internet.
Training workshop
NBDO will conduct a level 0 refereeing and coaching for teachers and students in order to enable them to run their own competition and coach during the games. The precise date for the workshop will be conducted on Friday 16th August and Saturday for theory and practical session. Coaching will be on Monday and Tuesday the following week.
The next circulation to schools will be this week which will be for the confirmation of the event and together with training workshop. Teachers and students are now looking forward to the event.
