The AFLDD League Executive have received the ruling from AFLQ with regards to overage exemptions.
“AFL Queensland advises that it is AFL Queensland policy that junior/youth players are not permitted to play down an age group.
Exemptions can apply in specific circumstances (see attached application form). The circumstances under which an exemption may apply are limited to the player being deemed to be substantially physically immature or to have a compromising disability. In either case an application would need to be supported by medical evidence and also supported by the parents of players in opposition clubs.
This policy is particularly relevant to the 10 to 17 year old age groups. Between these age groups there are structural growth variations with risk implications which, if not managed well, compromise the safety of individuals.”
As such all Overage Exemptions are withdrawn as of today the 8th August 2013. All future exemptions will have to be accompanied by a medical report supplied by a registered medical practitioner.
