The Army AFL Sydney Womens Round 13 Rising Star nominee is Amanda Farache of Auburn Tigers.
Amanda Farache is one of the Tigers youngest players, currently completing her higher school certificate. She dreams of working in forensics, inspired by detective fiction books. For Amanda, the most enjoyable aspect of footy is learning new skills because a lot of things are new to her.
She joined the team because her mum wanted her to play a sport. Amanda's mum has been integral in her participation, attending more games than any other mum in the Club. Despite being concerned about Amanda's safety and risk of injury she supports her daughter to play Aussie Rules.
Amanda is probably the tiniest player in the entire Sydney Women’s competition. Despite this, she isn’t intimidated by height or size of the opposition. She puts her body on the line time and time again, and consistently wins the ball. She has been on the end of some huge tackles, but her determination ensures she continually gets back up and into the next contest.
Amanda has come a long way from the shy girl who joined the team; it was obvious she had a lot of heart. With less than 6 games experience, Amanda has consistently shown improvement and performs her role for the team to the best of her ability.
She has been an inspiration to her teammates. She is never one to turn down a challenge and is always ready to go out and give it all she has with a determined spirit and persistence.
Congratulations Amanda!
