Earlier this year, both Bayside and Sandgate/Redcliffe clubs had members lose their wife's to breast/cervical cancer.
As sporting clubs, team mates, friends and family do, both clubs have thrown their full support behind these members to assist and help out one of their own, a member of the Masters AFL community in their time of grief and need.
The Bayside Bombers Club, in conjunction with the Redlands NEAFL Club are holding a Kim Walters Choices Foundation Fundraising day on August 17th at Victoria Point. This day will start with a gala luncheon before the Redlands vs Southport NEAFL game and conclude with the Bayside Bombers vs Sandgate/Redcliffe Barbarians Masters game starting at 6.00pm.
Both sides will be wearing specially designed playing strips, Bayside in a Pink jumper and the Barbarians in a Teal jumper. These colours represent both Breast and Cervical cancer fundraising and awareness. These jumpers will be auctioned off/sold after the game, all proceeds going to the Kim Walters Choices Foundation.
In the coming weeks, I am endeavouring to distribute collections tins to all clubs to assist these causes. I would appreciate all clubs to participate in filling these tins in our fundraising efforts. As a mark of respect to our two members who have endured loss of loved ones, all teams will wear both pink and teal armbands on matchday on August 23rd.
