The Round 14 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Hayden Washington of Manly-Warringah.
Hayden Washington is the 4th young Wolves player to be nominated for the Rising Star this season. At just 18 years of age Hayden has been a key forward presence in the Premier Division competition in 2013.
After playing the majority of his junior footy in the backline and midfield, the Wolves needed to fill a hole in the forward line early in the season so coach Leigh Brain moved him forward and he has remained their ever since. It appears as if the switch has worked well with his height and physicality his best assets. Last weekend against Illawarra, Hayden slotted 6 goals in a dominant performance out of the goal square.
Despite an interrupted season so far due to injury, Hayden has managed to kick 26 goals in his 8 Premier Division games for the Wolves and is the clubs 2nd leading goal kicker. The Wolves are hopeful that Washington will be fit and firing come September as his performances up forward can be very telling.
Congratulations on the nomination Hayden.
