St Joseph's College Toowoomba teacher Mr. Rod Spain has taken out the 2013 AFL Coles School Ambassador for Secondary schools on the Darling Downs.
What makes this win even more interesting is that "Spainy" is heavily involved with Toowoomba Rugby League and is a highly ranked Referee within League. Though even with his TRL involvement, Spainy is just happy to offer students the opportunity to give Australia's Game a go.
Mr. Spain, finished on a total of 280points an impressive 90points clear of the second place Andrew Wickes of Concordia College. After trailing earlier in the year, Rod stormed home after having school teams participate in the various Secondary school competitions and carnivals.
Spainy already has his sights on accumulating as many points as possible for the new system which kicks off on Monday 22nd July, when his Open girls team travels down to Brisbane to contest the Brisbane Lions Cup finals.
Rod received for taking out the Secondary award; a Brisbane Lions team signed match day sherrin, signed Jonathan Brown cap and a family pass to a Brisbane Lions game this season.
