GOONDIWINDI has the AFL Darling Downs finals in its sights after a thrilling come-from-behind victory over Warwick at Roddies Oval on Saturday.
The fifth-placed Hawks stormed home with a brilliant last quarter to defeat the sixth-placed Redbacks 8.11 (59) to 7.9 (51).
Warwick had the run of play early but inaccuracy in front of goal saw it head into the first break with only a two-point advantage.
Both sides kicked 3.2 in an even second term before the Redbacks broke away to lead by 11 at the final change.
But the Hawks rallied in the fourth quarter to keep Warwick goal-less and snatch a crucial victory.
In the weekend's other matches, Dan McPhee put on a goal-scoring clinic as South Toowoomba pumped Highfields 28.20 (188) to 4.3 (27).
McPhee bagged a club record 19 goals to take his season tally to 98 and help the Bombers move up to third on the ladder.
Coolaroo's Miels Grice was also sensational in front of goal, kicking 12 majors in the Roos' 31.16 (202) to 3.1 (19) win over Chinchilla.
The under-strength Suns barely troubled Coolaroo which stretched its unbeaten run to 10 games.
But University kept the heat on the Roos in their quest for the minor premiership with a 30.15 (195) to 1.3 (9) victory over South Burnett.
The Cougars were impenetrable in defence and didn't give up a goal until the last quarter while Heath Gniel (eight) and Al Reilly (seven) spearheaded their brilliant attack.
