EVERYTHING about 10-year-olds Mitchell Littler and Nicholas Johnston says rivalry.
From their clashes on the field when they line up for rival junior league clubs to madly barracking for their AFL heroes when Richmond Tigers take on the Gold Coast Suns this Saturday.
And after both winning The Cairns Post's junior mascot promotion, that rivalry is sure to burn bright.
Decked out in their new mascot gear and armed with a family pass each to the game, both Nicholas and Mitchell will have a chance to meet their superstar idols before running on to the field with their team at the start of the game.
Cheering on her son in the crowd will be Nicholas's mum Leonie, a self-described "one-eyed Richmond supporter".
"I'm the loudest supporter in the whole league," Mrs Johnston quipped.
Mitchell's dad Mark said he was simply there for the electric atmosphere.
"It's good to get some first-class AFL," Mr Littler said.
"It's great for the kids to see it in their own backyard."
