HAMMER’S COMING TO TOWN

Shane “Hammer” Heal, one of the biggest and somewhat controversial personalities in Basketball world wide, will be in Mount Gambier on Thursday and Friday July 18th and 19th.

Pioneers Head Coach Richard Hill has invited Heal, current coach of the Sydney Kings, to have a look at the Pioneers’ program and to work out with Kings’ recruits Brad Hill and Ben Allen.

He will also be running individual sessions with the squad, observing team training on the Thursday night and watching the home game against Frankston on Friday.

Basketball Mount Gambier will also be involved in this visit. A group of Lakers junior players will experience an opportunity of a life-time; they will be invited to attend two training sessions run by Heal on Thursday and Friday mornings, 8.30am to 9.30am at the stadium.

Heal will lead a Coaches’ Discussion session in the Canteen Complex on Thursday night July 18th starting at 6.15 pm. All local coaches are invited to attend.

Heal began his outstanding basketball career in Victoria under the guidance of Barry Barnes.

His achievements include representing Australia at four Olympic Games, playing NBA with Minnesota Timberwolves and Antonio Spurs, and fifteen seasons of NBL, 8years named in the NBL All Star team.
