The Round 12 AFL Sydney Rising Star nominee is Alphonse Jambarufo of Campbelltown.
Alphonse Jambarufo (Major) arrived at Campbelltown this season from the AFL Asia Pacific talented pathway program. He played club football for the Lamana Dockers out of Port Moresby in PNG and has represented the South Pacific AFL Under 18’s and Under 16’s teams.
Major is a strong bodied, utility player and plays his best football behind the ball, on the wing or off a half bank flank. Major is a very polite young bloke and is very enthusiastic which positively affects all players at the Campbelltown Monarch Blues.
Major put in a best on ground performance in the 2 point win over North Shore last Sunday and who will forget his celebration after kicking a running angled goal in the last quarter. We couldn’t catch him!
Coach Neil Brunton is very impressed with Major’s progress and in particular his attentiveness, willingness to listen and the way he follows instructions. He is one of 4 young PNG AFL players currently being developed at the club and is a valuable asset to the young Campbelltown Monarch Blues squad.
Congratulations Major!
